WASHBURN COUNTY — A Trego, WI, man is facing felony child abuse charges from a violent April 2026 incident that allegedly began inside a moving vehicle and continued at a residence.
A criminal complaint filed in Washburn County Circuit Court states that a juvenile suffered a black eye, facial scratches and cuts, and other injuries caused by 47-year-old Matthew Law, who repeatedly assaulted and restrained the child despite pleas to stop.
Law, who denied the allegations during a police interview, has been bound over for trial after the Hon. Judge Winton-Roe found probable cause during a June 15, 2026, court hearing.
