Editors Note: Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of this vehicle was Otis, who was partially ejected during the crash. The passenger was Rauchbauer, who was thrown clear of the vehicle. Both pronounced dead at the scene by the Burnett County Medical Examiner.
Town of Wood River, Burnett County, WI -- On Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 7:09 a.m. the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Wood Lake Road near South Williams Road in the Town of Wood River. Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2007 Saturn Aura travelling on Wood Lake Road left the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver and partially ejecting the passenger. Neither was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
The Grantsburg Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance also responded to this incident.
No further information will be released at this time; investigation and crash reconstruction continues by the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.
