UPDATE: 1 Person Has Died From Injuries Sustained Following House Explosion in Cable

**UPDATE** The Bayfield County Sheriff's Office says that one of the two persons injured in the house explosion in Cable, Wisconsin, has died.

(News Release) - The Bayfield County Sheriff’s office has received notification that Joyce Reidl has died of burns and injuries sustained in this explosion. We do not have an update on the condition of her husband Raymond at this time.

A Cable, Wisconsin home was damaged after an explosion on Thursday evening, according to a news release from the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office.

(News Release) -- On 6-14-18, at around 6:00 P.M., Bayfield County Communications Center received a 911 call (from neighbor Pamela Wald) reporting a house explosion at 45975 S. Lake Owen Drive, in the Township of Cable.

A Sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and learned the home had been occupied by the two residents at the time. The home was owned by Raymond and Joyce Reidl of Cable, WI. The home was blown apart in a large area and half of it fully engulfed in flames.

Raymond Reidl was able to escape the structure, after the explosion by assistance from the next-door neighbor (Lee Wald). Joyce Reidl however was trapped among debris as the fire continued to spread toward the female victim.

Great Divide EMS and Cable Fire Department and Drummond Fire Dept, arrived on scene. Fire personnel were able to pull the female victim from the wreckage where a Sheriff’s Deputy and Great Divide Paramedics were able to assist.

Both patients were transported by Great Divide EMS to a nearby airport where North Memorial Flight Service flew them to Hennepin County Hospital for further treatment. The both had sustained severe burns and other injuries.

The scene remains under investigation as cause and origin of the fire are yet to be determined.

Assisting agencies at the scene included; Namakagon Fire Department Grand View Fire Department Mason Fire Department Barnes Fire Department Hayward Fire Department Sawyer County EMS Cable Enforcement Officer WI State Dept of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation.
