Two-Vehicle Crash In Polk County Results In Fatality

POLK COUNTY -- A two-vehicle crash on Sunday has resulted in a fatality, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 12:12p, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a 2-car motor vehicle crash on County Road G approximately one-half mile west of 210th St in the Town of Eureka.

Upon arrival of Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services, it was found that a Ford Excursion SUV was traveling west bound on County Road G when it approached a Chevrolet Impala that was also Westbound on County Road G. As the Ford Excursion attempted to pass the Impala, the vehicles struck.

The Impala entered the North ditch and began to roll over. The passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The Impala continued to roll over, striking large boulders. The vehicle came to rest on its roof. The passenger who was ejected, did suffer fatal injuries, and died at the crash scene.

After striking the impala, the Excursion also traveled to the right and entered the north ditch. The vehicle stayed on it wheels for several hundred feet, before striking a large boulder, and then began to flip over. The SUV came to rest on its side, and then started on fire. All the passengers of the Excursion were able to exit the vehicle before it was consumed by the fire.

Assisting the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with this incident were the Milltown Fire and First Responders, the Cushing Fire and First Responders, Lakes Area Ambulance Service, Northland Ambulance Service, and the Polk County Medical Examiner.

The crash is being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the individuals involved will be release later.
