CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- A 72-year old male has died following a crash in Chippewa County, according to a press release from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department.
(Press Release) -- On Wednesday Dec 19th at 259 pm Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 2 vehicle head on collision on CTH T approximately .5 miles north of CTH X in the Town of Wheaton.
Responders discovered a 72 year old male that was operating a 2002 Lincoln Continental was deceased at the scene. A 54 year old male operating a 2016 Dodge ¾ truck had minor injuries.
Investigation and witness determined that the 2002 Lincoln was N/B on CTH T and the 2016 Dodge was S/B. For unknown reasons the 2002 Lincoln went left of center into the S/B lane. The operator of the 2016 attempted to avoid collision by braking and steering but was unable to avoid impact. Both vehicles were occupied by just the drivers. The deceased was not wearing his seat belt.
