United Way COVID-19 Barron County Relief Fund Contributes $9,500 To Fast & Short Term Response

Press Release

The United Way COVID 19 Barron County Relief Fund, the Salvation Army, and Barron County Department of Health and Human Services combined forces to provide fast and short term financial help to residents who have been affected by COVID 19.

The $9,500 contributed to the Salvation Army, along with a one-stop-shop application at the County level, allowed 95 families to receive rent or mortgage help totaling over $50,000. In addition, these families were provided help through various needs such as phone cards, gas vouchers, food vouchers, car repairs, utility bills, and COVID related transportation.

“The level of gratitude and relief felt from these families is enormous and on behalf of all the families served, I would like to thank all of the local businesses and neighbors who have donated”, said Trisha Witham. “We have stepped up to help each other in each other’s time of need and made the help available quickly with little hassle, which is a testament of what great community we live in”, she says.

With continued donations, the agencies involved with the fast and short term response project will continue their efforts.
