UPDATE: Authorities Say 38-Year-Old Victim Involved in ATV Crash Has Died

SAWYER COUNTY -- The 38-year-old male victim involved in last week's ATV crash has died, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.

(Press Release) -- On 09/06/18, the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the adult male victim from the ATV crash that occurred on 09/01/18 in Sawyer County has succumbed to his injuries.   The deceased adult male has been identified as Justin Lee Schlies, age 38, of the Town of Bass Lake.

Follow-up investigation of the crash is being conducted by the Wisconsin DNR.   The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office has no further information available at this time.

SAWYER COUNTY -- A 38-year-old is facing life-threatening injuries following a crash between two ATV's, according to a press release by the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office. 

(Press Release) -- On 09/01/18 at 7:20 p.m., the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a crash involving two ATVs on Trail #31, approximately 4 miles north of Chippewa Trail in the Town of Hayward. 

The caller advised that the male operator of one of the ATVs was seriously injured and was unresponsive but breathing. Sawyer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, assisted by the LCO Police Department, Town of Hayward Fire Department, City of Hayward Fire Department, LCO Fire Department and Sawyer County Ambulance EMTs and Paramedic.

The injured 38-year-old adult male victim was subsequently airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN with life-threatening injuries.

The name of the victim and his medical condition are not being released at this time.
