UPDATE: Body Of One Of The Missing Boaters On Wisconsin’s Minong Flowage Found

DOUGLAS COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The body of one of the two missing male boaters on the Minong Flowage has been found.

Authorities from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, WI DNR, Gordon and Wascott VFD's, and Sawyer County were searching for the two men in Wascott on the Minong Flowage who were reported missing on the Flowage.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at the time, the two men went out in a canoe sometime Saturday evening, October 28, 2023, and were reported missing to the Sheriff's Office early Sunday morning at 12:46a after family members located their capsized canoe.

The search with drones and personnel on the water continued throughout the day on Sunday until dark and continued throughout the day on Monday, October 30, 2023.

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they had located the body of one of the missing boaters.

“On the evening of November 8, 2023, searchers located and recovered the body of 26-year-old Ryan J. Busch, of New Ulm Minnesota, who had been missing after a canoe incident on the Minong Flowage in Douglas County," Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said. “The search efforts continue for 27-year-old Andrew DeRock, also of New Ulm, who was with Busch and is also missing.”
