RUSK COUNTY, WI — A 19-year-old New Auburn man who went missing while fishing on Fish Lake over the weekend was recovered Monday afternoon, according to an updated press release from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, May 11, 2026, around 2:00 PM, Bruce's Legacy, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Chetek Fire Department - Dive Team were able to locate and recover Stanley Lang, 19 years old from New Auburn, WI.
Mr. Lang is the fisherman who had been missing in Fish Lake since Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The Rusk County Sheriff's Office would like to thank all who helped with the search and wishes to give Mr. Lang's family our sincere condolences.

RUSK COUNTY, WI — Authorities continue searching for a possible drowning victim after emergency crews were dispatched Saturday night to Fish Lake in the Town of Rusk, according to a press release from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.
PRESS RELEASE
On Saturday, May 9 2026, at about 9:17PM the Rusk County Dispatch center received multiple 911 calls about a possible drowning on Fish Lake in the Township of Rusk.
Rusk County Deputies, Department of Natural Resources, Chetek Fire - Dive Team, Chippewa Fire Protection - Dive Team, Bruce Fire, Mayo Ambulance, Mayo Helicopter and Sawyer Search and Rescue all responded to the scene.
Search efforts have continued through the weekend and are still ongoing.
