The name of the 71-year-old man that died following a snowmobile crash in Polk County has been released by Authorities.

(UPDATE) POLK COUNTY -- The name of the 71-year-old man that died following a snowmobile crash in Polk County has been released by Authorities.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as Lynn Johnson of rural Centuria, Wisconsin.

POLK COUNTY -- A 71-year-old man has died following a snowmobile crash in St. Croix Falls, WI, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:16a, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a fatal snowmobile crash near 170th Ave and 200th street in St Croix Falls Township.

Preliminary investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office, shows that a 71-year-old male was snowmobiling and lost control along a marked snowmobile trail. The male was ejected from his snowmobile and succumbed to injuries from the crash.

Alcohol may have been a factor in this crash.

The Wisconsin DNR is leading the investigation in this case. Assisting the Wisconsin DNR were the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Centuria Fire Department, Centuria First Responders, Lakes Area EMS, and the Polk County Medical Examiner.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
