Update: More Information Released on Spooner Machine Incident

The Spooner Police Department has issued the following press release updating the community on the incident that took place yesterday morning at Spooner Machine.

"Spooner Police will now release the name and some details of the incident that occurred on March 2nd, 2018 at 1100 Roundhouse Raod.

The victim in the incident is Bradley Grossen 29 years old from Spooner. Mr. Grossen is an employee at Spooner Machine located at 1100 Roundhouse Road. From the information gathered, Mr. Grossen was making repairs to a water table, utilized in metal fabrication. An explosion occurred throwing Mr. Grossen from the top of the water table to the floor. Mr. Grossen sustained injuries during the event which were life-threatening. Mr. Grossen is currently hospitalized in the Twin Cities and is said to be in stable condition. No structural damage occurred to the building at 1100 Roundhouse Road, and the explosion was contained to the water table."

Multiple Agencies Respond to Report of Explosion at Spooner Machine

On March 2nd, 2018 at approximately 5:55 a.m. Washburn County Dispatch received a 911 all from 1100 Roundhouse Road Spooner, WI reporting an explosion that resulted in a 29-year-old male with life-threatening injuries

North Memorial Ambulance Service was dispatched. Spooner Officers, along with a Washburn County Sheriff's Office Deputy, and a Wisconsin State Patrol Inspector responded to the scene. First aid was rendered by responding officers. North Memorial Ambulance Service arrived and evaluated and treated the male victim. The male victim was transported by North Memorial Ambulance to Spooner Hospital, where there was a helicopter waiting. The male victim was airlifted to a hospital in the Twin Cities.

Spooner Fire Department was also dispatched to assist in the initial response and to ensure no risk of possible fire.
