US 53 Northbound work in Washburn County scheduled to start August 7th. Motorists can expect travel delays.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to begin an improvement project along the US 53 corridor between Trego and Minong in Washburn and Douglas Counties. Improvements include milling and patching pavement, asphalt overlay, culvert pipe repair, pavement marking, and signing.

Monarch Paving Co. is the prime contractor for this $3.9 million project. The project is funded with a mix of federal and state transportation dollars.
Traffic impacts
- Construction is scheduled for August 7, 2017 to October 9, 2017.
- Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures. Speeds will be reduced from 65 to 55 MPH.
- Please drive the posted reduced speed limit and be aware of the workers.
