Wednesday, November 2, 2016 | Posted by Ben Dryden

(Press Release from UW Stout) — The city of Menomonie and University of Wisconsin-Stout have worked together to establish a reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the fatal injuries sustained early Sunday morning by Hussain Saeed Alnahdi, a UW-Stout student from Saudi Arabia.

The reward is at $15,000 and will be administered through the Community Foundation of Dunn County.  It is being supported through private donations and the UW-Stout Foundation. No tax dollars are involved.

“It is absolutely essential that we use all of our resources to find the person responsible for Hussain’s death,” Chancellor Bob Meyer said in announcing the reward. “Many people are looking for ways to help the police find the assailant, and we hope this fund will generate the information needed to lead to an arrest and conviction.”

“The city also has been contacted by many people who want to help,” Menomonie Police Chief Eric Atkinson said.  “This fund could be just the right incentive for someone to come forward with the information we need to solve this case.”

Georgina Tegart, executive director of the Community Foundation, said donors can make checks to the Community Foundation of Dunn County/Reward Fund and mail or drop them off to: 500 Main St., Suite 322, Menomonie, WI 54734.

Donations also may be made through the Foundation’s secure online donation processing system at www.cfdunncounty.org/reward or at https://venmo.com/cfdcreward. All gifts will be placed into the reward fund.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call Menomonie police investigator Kelly Pollock at 715-231-8511. Anonymous information can be submitted at 855-847-3866 or at http://dunncocrimestoppers.com. You may also text “TIPDUNN” followed by your message to 274637 (CRIMES).

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), also announced today that it will offer an additional $5,000 reward.

“We are offering this reward to help police apprehend the perpetrator and to determine the motive for this senseless crime,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “The deadly attack on a Muslim student comes at a time of a rising number of anti-Muslim incidents nationwide, which raises concerns about a possible bias motive.”
