A brown Buick Enclave was allegedly stolen from a driveway in the Akikaandag neighborhood on the LCO Reservation approximately 7:30 this morning. The vehicle was spotted shortly thereafter traveling southbound on County Highway NN and then again near Midway corner where Hwy 27/70 meets County Highways E and F.
It was unknown which way the vehicle turned at the corner, but several minutes later the vehicle was found by Sawyer County Sheriff's deputies crashed into trees on the south side of the railroad crossing on County Highway F about four miles north of Edgewater.
The Buick suffered major damages. A witness reported seeing the accident and a man dressed in black leaving the scene. Deputies observed tracks going to a nearby garage and the homeowner gave permission to search the garage but the suspect wasn't found.
Law enforcement continued searching the area looking for tracks in the snow and around nearby homes. Approximately 30 minutes later, a suspect was apprehended walking on County Highway F not far from the scene and was taken into custody.
