A police officer narrowly avoided being crushed by the officer's own squad car when a pickup truck rear-ended the vehicle while walking back to it.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Hudson officer was helping with a stalled vehicle that was blocking the left lane of the bridge when a 2012 Ford pickup rear-ended the squad car.
The crash, shortly before 9.30am, caused the squad car to cross all lanes of traffic and slam into the right wall of the bridge, ABC 5 reports.
‘The officer was not in the squad car at the time of the accident,’ Hudson police said, adding that no one was seriously hurt.
‘Please remember to slow down and move over when you see an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights on.’
The state patrol identified the driver of the pickup truck as Derik Sands, 31, of St. Paul. He escaped with injuries that are not life-threatening.
