Voting Now Open for 2nd Annual Awards Banquet Recognizing Washburn Co. Businesses

WASHBURN COUNTY -- Business and community leaders from around Washburn County will be gathering on April 25th to recognize successes and community contributions of local businesses.

According to Joel Zimmerman, Executive Director of the Washburn County Economic Development Corporation, “We opened nominations for the various awards to the public for about six weeks and the response was impressive.  We’ve taken all of the nominations received and have them ready for the public to vote for the businesses they believe are the most deserving of the recognition.”

Votes for award recipients are being accepted through April 6th, by going to www.washburncodevelopment.com for the following awards:

  • Business of the Year
  • New Business of the Year
  • Community Involved Business of the Year
  • Customer Friendly Business of the Year
  • Non-Profit/Governmental Organization of the Year
  • Innovative Business of the Year
  • Tourism Business of the Year

In addition to the awards, there will also be a silent auction to raise money for the efforts of expanding economic development efforts in Washburn County.  Donations are requested and being taken at the WCEDC office.  The WCEDC is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to increase the tax base within Washburn County.

“Most of the nominations received by our office qualified for the awards, however, a few businesses were located in other counties or no longer exist, and our goal through this event is to recognize those that are making a difference in this County,” said Joel.

“The awards will be announced the evening of the banquet, at the Reel Em Inn, in Sarona.”
