Walmart Awards Lakeland Family Resource Center Spark Good Grant

Walmart recently awarded the Lakeland Family Resource Center a $1,000 “Spark Good” grant to support its efforts to ensure children in the community have access to basic necessities and critical safety resources.

Since 1996, Lakeland Family Resource Center has been dedicated to strengthening children and families through free programming and services that strive to bridge gaps in service and provide hands-on assistance to families in need.

Lakeland Family Resource Center will use the Walmart donation to support a vital program that distributes free diapers, wipes, car seats, and car seat safety education to families in the community. Since 2023, this initiative has provided more than 15,000 diapers, 230 packs of wipes, and 30 car seats to local families.

"With the support of grants like this, we are strengthening the foundation of care for families in our community — ensuring every child travels safely and every parent feels supported,” said Renee Brown, Lakeland Family Resource Center Executive Director. “This vital funding empowers us to extend our reach, delivering essential resources that foster health, safety, and peace of mind for those who need it most."

Walmart’s Spark Good local grant program aims to empower local organizations that are making a difference in their communities. Spark Good strengthens local communities by empowering Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and nonprofits to support causes through an omnichannel platform that inspires a culture of local giving.

"We are thrilled to be able to support Lakeland Family Resource Center and its efforts to help local families and children,” said Kaitlyn Fladhammer, Chippewa Falls Walmart Store Manager. “We are proud to have this opportunity to help them spark good in our community."
