SPOONER, WI -- Spooner will be a buzz this week with lots of hockey activity at the Spooner Civic Center.

Starting out the week on Tuesday, February 1st will be the High School Co-op, the Northwest Icemen. The Icemen will be hosting their last home game of the season at the Spooner Civic Center. The JV game will start at 5 pm and the Varsity game will start at 7 pm. This evening the Spooner pep band will be performing and stay after the varsity game for retiring of the jerseys for Senior Night! Doors will open at 4 pm.

Next up on Friday and Saturday will be our hometown Junior A team the Wisconsin Lumberjacks. The Lumberjacks will be home on February 4th and 5th at 7 pm. Rumor has it that you may even see the frozen northern on the ice when goals are scored!

The youth hockey team, the Spooner Rails will take the ice on Saturday, February 5th for the first state playdown that Spooner has been involved in 5 years. The 10U Squirt team will be ready to take on River Valley at 9 am at the Spooner Civic Center. Note, the 12U Peewee team will be at their playdown in Barron on Saturday as well.

And finally, the youth 8u Mite II team will be hosting teams from Rice Lake, Hayward, Siren, and Barron/Chetek for their first home jamboree of the season on Sunday, February 6th. The games start at 10 am. Come out and see the cross-ice games and all the smiles on the kids' faces.

Hockey is not in short supply in Spooner this week. Come out and see one or all of the games going on!
