WASHBURN COUNTY -- The upcoming Washburn County Area Humane Society's Annual Tree of Lights will be combined this year with a long-awaited Open House. These two events will take place on Saturday, December 1, at the WCAHS Animal Shelter, located on the north end of Spooner, at 1300 Roundhouse Road, from 1 PM to 4 PM. All are invited to not only enjoy the complimentary refreshments and an opportunity to win many wonderful prizes, but to take a tour of this new facility and meet the many furry friends who would love to bless you with their companionship.
Last year's theme was based on the “Dreams Do Come True” theme as the building purchased after the shelter fire was then being renovated and the excitement and promise of opening this shelter was a dream but now is a reality come true. In 2016, this annual tree lighting event recognized the 10,000 animals that had passed through the doors of the animal shelter since 2000 when the Cottonwood Avenue building was established. The idea then of creating the Washburn County Area Humane Society Animal Shelter was forward thinking and valuable and, since that time, it certainly has been proven that the presence of this shelter is a necessity.
The WCAHS Annual Tree of Lights is a way to keep the warmth in our hearts for those special companions who have brought or continue to bring us joy in our lives, and a light will be lit and an ornament hung to honor or memorialize that special companion. Your tax-deductible donation may be any amount and can be mailed to PO Box 328, Spooner, WI 54801, or brought the day of the Open House and Tree of Lights events. Please check the Washburn County Area Humane Society facebook or website www.wcahs.com for a donation form if you did not receive one in the mail and also for the wish list if you would like to donate pet supplies.
This December 1 gathering is truly a celebration of this new animal shelter at its new location as well as a heart-felt thank you to every person who has supported this Washburn County Area Humane Society Animal Shelter in the past and present.
The Humane Society philosophy brings out the goodness in people. So, Good People, please be a part of this year's Tree of Lights and Open House. Come and enjoy a good time, win good prizes, and indulge in good refreshments as it's all for a good reason!
