WASHBURN COUNTY — A 29-year-old Minong man was arrested following a reported weapons incident, threats toward law enforcement, and a standoff that involved multiple Special Response Teams, according to a press release from the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 23rd, 2025 at about 9:26 p.m. Washburn County Sheriff s Dispatch received a call reference a weapons offence in the Village of Minong. Responding deputies learned that Brady Sikorski 29 years old was in a vehicle and had pull up to a residence. Sikorski and a male from the residence had a verbal altercation as Sikorski was still seated in the vehicle. It was reported as Sikorski was driving away two gun shots were heard. Deputies did recover physical evidence at the scene.
Deputies went to Sikorski's residence in the Village of Minong and located the described vehicle that Sikorski was in at the time of the altercation. Deputies surrounded the residence and Washburn County Special Response Team was activated, along with Sawyer County, and Burnett County Special Response Teams.
Special Response Teams then surrounded the residence, and attempts to call Sikorski out of the residence were unsuccessful. Projectile irritant gas was deployed into the residence with a negative result. Special Response Teams then entered the residence and found that Sikorski was not in the residence. Special Response Teams then cleared from the Village of Minong not knowing the location of Sikorski at that time.
On the morning of September 24th, 2025 Washburn County Sheriffs Office received information that Sikorski was back in his residence, and had been making threats towards law enforcement.
Washburn County Deputies, Investigators, and Minong Police Department began surveilling the residence. Washburn County Investigators applied for a search warrant for Sikorski's residence, and it was granted.
Early afternoon Washburn County, along with Sawyer County, Burnett County, Douglas County, and City of Superior Special Response Teams were activated and responded to the Village of Minong. Sikorski's residence was surrounded, and call out announcements were made for Sikorski to exit the residence. After several minutes of announcements, there was no response from Sikorski.
Special Response Teams deployed projectile irritant gas again into the residence. Sikorski then came to the front door and was taken into custody, and transported to the Washburn County Jail.
A search of the residence was then conducted by Washburn County Investigators which resulted in locating physical evidence.
Sikorski was arrested on the following Wisconsin State Statutes: Threats to Law Enforcement, Endanger Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Bail Jumping, and Disorderly Conduct. The arrest is an accusation of the offenses, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
