Local Man Struck by Motor Vehicle; Sheriff's Office Asking for Public's Help

Washburn County Sheriff's Dispatch received a 911 call at approx 4:50 AM on Tuesday morning March 13th. The caller stated that her boyfriend was struck by a vehicle on County A and has a possible broken leg and road rash.

North Ambulance and Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the residence. The investigation by Washburn County Sheriff's Office and Forensic Mapping personnel from the Wisconsin State Patrol reveals much information, however, we are looking to the public for help.

Preliminary investigation indicates Jesse Retzlaff injuries were caused by being struck by a motor vehicle and/or dragged some distance. After Jesse sustained his injuries he dragged himself approx. a mile, along County A, to his residence. We need any and all information to help us in identifying the person/s responsible. We believe the incident occurred sometime between 11 PM on Monday night until approx. 5 AM on Tuesday, the time of the 911 call. The location of the incident was somewhere on County A between Little Bass Lake Road and the Burnett County line.

Jesse was transported to the Spooner Hospital and was immediately flown to North Memorial Hospital. He is doing well considering his injuries.

If anyone has any information about this incident we ask you to call the Sheriff's Office, 715-468-4700, TIP Line 715-468-2720 or you may send me a private message on FaceBook.

This is an ongoing investigation and as such, no other information will be released at this time.
