FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washburn County is pleased to share that, following a special meeting held yesterday, Monday, July 14, 2025, the Washburn County Zoning Committee has agreed that Max McKinney can reopen his roadside bait shop near Spooner Lake.

The Zoning Committee voted not to pursue enforcement action regarding the roadside bait shop, and will meet in the future to address how Wisconsin’s 2019 “Lemonade Stand Law”, and related statutes impact Washburn County’s zoning ordinance.

Washburn County appreciates the thoughtful cooperation shown by the family and the Zoning Committee in working toward a resolution and supporting the entrepreneurial efforts of one of our county’s young residents.
