About Northwoods Humane Society
The Northwoods Humane Society is a non-profit, private animal shelter located in Hayward, Wisconsin. NHS was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1989, and the shelter opened in 1996 at its current location 4 miles east of Hayward on O’Brien Hill Road off Highway 77.
The shelter is funded by donations, adoption fees, memberships, bequests, grants, and their thrift shop and fundraising events.
They have a 5 acre dog park and a smaller dog park for little dogs located on the property and is open to the public.
The shelter is currently closed due to the Covid crisis, but dogs and cats may be viewed by scheduling an appointment after an adoption application has been approved.
Applications are available on their website www.northwoodshumanesociety.org. They have an active presence on Facebook as well.
All of their dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption. They have a very active volunteer program, so as soon as social distancing practices are lifted, they would be happy to take new volunteers.
For more information, you can call 715-634-5394 during their regular hours of operation, M-Sa from 11-3pm.
