Man Flown To Hosptial Following Vehicle Vs Bike Crash

BURNETT COUNTY -- A 77-year-old man is in the care of North Memorial Hospital trauma unit after he apparently lost control of his bicycle and hit a vehicle that was attempting to pass him, according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff's Office.

(Press Release) -- On July 2, 2019, at approximately 6:10 p.m., the Burnett County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a crash between a motor vehicle and a person riding a bike on County Highway FF in the Village of Webster.

John Andresen Jr., age 31, of Webster WI was driving westbound on County Hwy FF.  According to witnesses, Andresen attempted to pass Robert “Dake” Smith, age 77, whom was riding his bicycle, also westbound.  While Andresen was passing, Smith lost control of his bicycle and ran into Andresen’s vehicle.

North Ambulance service and North Memorial Air Care assisted in providing Smith emergency medical care.  Smith was flown to North Memorial Hospital where he remains in the care of their trauma unit.
