The Webster Village Board has hired Burnett County Sheriff’s Deputy Stephenie (Kuzniecki) Wedin as its new Chief of Police.
Wedin succeeds Webster Chief Mike Spafford, who retired April 1 after 32 years with Webster Police Department, including 30 as chief. Siren Police Chief Chris Sybers serves as interim Webster Police Chief until Wedin takes over.
Wedin started her law enforcement career working for the Village of Siren Police Department just after the June 2001 tornado hit the village of Siren.
“I was hired off of a grant for approximately six months due to the looting. The grant was extended for up to one year. I was then offered a full-time position with the Siren Police Department and was there until the end of 2002,” Wedin said.
“In 2003,” she continued, “I started working as a full-time deputy for the Burnett County Sheriffs Department, where I am currently employed as a sergeant until I start with the Village of Webster.
“I look forward to serving the citizens of the Village of Webster and working with senior full-time officer Bridget Getts, part-time officer Derrick Peterson, and part-time Officer Donnie Holmes. Together we will continue to provide services to the community with professionalism and integrity.
“Please feel free to stop in at the Police Department anytime with questions and concerns, or just to say hello.”
