Here is the weekly update for the USH 53 NB project from Spooner to Minong in Washburn County.
Currently, the driving lane is closed for the 1st 6 miles of the project from approx. Whalen Lake Road to Palmer Road. Currently, the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Next week, the driving lane will be closed from Palmer Road to the exit to Business 53.
All lanes are scheduled to be open Friday September 1st at 6:00 AM to Tuesday September 5th at 6:00 AM for Labor Day Weekend.
Mattison has continued working on culvert pipes this week. They finished all culvert pipe work in the median for the 1st 6 miles. Pipe work is taking longer than expected, and will continue for the next several weeks with pipe crews working within the closures set up for milling and paving.
Monarch has now completed milling and paving the lower layer on the 1st 6 miles of the project. For the two weeks after Labor Day, crews will mill and pave the lower layer on the last 5 miles of the project. Paving surface is scheduled for the week of September 18th.
