Wisconsin Man Pleads Guilty To Possession Of Child Sexual Assault Materials

BARRON COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The Court has sentenced Tony Warner, age 53, of Chetek, WI, on a conviction of possessing child sexual assault materials (child pornography). Warner was charged criminally following an investigation by the Barron County Sheriff's Department into suspected child pornography.

BACKSTORY

PRESS RELEASE

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, the Barron County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at 462 24th St. in Sioux Creek Township. The search warrant comes after a several-month-long investigation into child pornography.

A cell phone inside the residence was located and found to belong to Tony Warner, 51 of Chetek. With the assistance of DCI Digital Forensic Analyst, the cell phone was found to contain files containing child pornography.

Tony Warner is currently being held at the Barron County Jail on 10 counts of possession of child pornography awaiting formal charges from the Barron County District Attorney's Office.

It can be noted, as within many of these cases, additional files of child pornography were located on the device.

UPDATE

A criminal complaint was filed on June 10, 2024, against Warner in Barron County Circuit Court, charging him with 10 counts of Class D Felony Possession of Child Pornography. Warrner was placed on a $10,000 signature bail bond.

After several court hearings, Warner appeared most recently on January 27, 2026. He entered a plea of Guilty to 1 count of Class D Felony Possession of Child Pornography. The remaining counts were dismissed and read in.

The Hon. Judge Maureen Boyle ordered Warner to serve a 5-year sentence with 3 years of initial confinement, followed by 2 years of extended supervision. Warner is ordered to complete any evaluations, counseling, treatment, and follow-up recommended by the Department of Corrections.
