BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The court has sentenced Joseph Berg, age 38, of River Falls, WI, on a firearms charge in a Burnett County case stemming from an armed standoff incident. Berg was facing charges in both Burnett County and Polk County for multiple firearm and drug-related crimes. He was sentenced in July 2025 on convictions from his Polk County case.

The charges against Berg in Burnett County were filed following a call for assistance because Berg was outside a residence with an AR-15 style rifle. After taking Berg into custody, law enforcement located the AR-15, loaded with a 45-round clip. A second clip containing 45 rounds was also found. Berg entered pleas to his Burnett charges in October 2025 and was sentenced during a January 26, 2026 hearing.
