WIC Provides Healthy Foods for Healthy Families

Conveniently located within the Washburn County Health Department, WIC (the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program) has been offering help to low-income families for over 40 years. A Registered Dietitian can talk to you about your family’s nutrition, planning healthy meals, and shopping on a budget. WIC helps families to buy foods such as milk, peanut butter, fruits and vegetables, cereal, eggs, and more.

Farmers’ markets are in full swing with lots of fruits and vegetables at their peak for ripeness and availability. WIC provides checks for low income families to purchase some great produce—straight from the farm—as fresh as it gets!

You may qualify for WIC if:

  • You live in Wisconsin
  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have had a baby in the past 6 months
  • You have an infant or children under age 5
  • You or your children have a health or nutrition need
  • All the income coming into your home (before any deduction) is less than or equal to WIC income guidelines

Fathers, guardians or foster parents may apply for WIC.

For an appointment, or to find out if you may qualify, call Washburn County WIC at 715-635-4400.
