Winter Weather Advisory for Washburn Co. from Midnight to 3p on Thursday

Winter Weather Advisory for Washburn Co. from Midnight to 3p on Thursday

A low pressure system will move through the region tonight into Thursday. A light wintry mix will be possible tonight but switch to snow from northwest to southeast across the Northland. Total snowfall will range from 2 to 5 inches, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

However, due to the warmer weather today there is a lot of precipitation on the ground.  When this freezes tonight and the snow begins, it will make for very dangerous driving conditions for your morning commute.

Therefore, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect from midnight tonight to 3p tomorrow, Thursday.  The mixed precipitation to snow will lead to slippery road conditions. Accumulations of 2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected.

Temperatures will be dropping sharply tonight into Thursday. Temperatures by 8 am Thursday will range from around zero over far northern Minnesota to the teens along the Minnesota and Wisconsin border to 25 to 30 over north central Wisconsin. Temperatures will remain steady or drop through the day and by 3 pm range from around zero to the teens.

Stay tuned to DrydenWire.com for any school closings in Washburn County.  We will be posting those when/if they come in late tonight and through the early morning.
