WASHBURN COUNTY — A summer afternoon bicycle ride ended in injury—and months later, in felony charges. A Spooner man is now facing a Class H felony after a June 20, 2025, vehicle-versus-bicycle crash involving a juvenile at a city intersection.

A criminal complaint filed in Washburn County Circuit Court states that blood test results from the state crime lab confirmed the presence of THC in the vehicle driver’s blood, leading prosecutors to charge 37-year-old Drew A. Pedersen with Operating With a Restricted Controlled Substance in Blood Causing Injury—2nd+ Offense. He is scheduled to appear in court in March 2026.
