BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A routine traffic stop in Burnett County on the night of October 11, 2025, has led to felony drunk driving charges against a Birchwood, Wisconsin, man with multiple prior convictions.
A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on County Road H near Lakeview Church Road. The traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Eric Widiker, age 53, on allegations of Operating While Intoxicated, 8th Offense, after signs of impairment were observed.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Burnett County Circuit, a subsequent blood test indicated that Widiker’s blood alcohol was above the legal limit, and a review of his prior convictions led to charges of 6th Offense OWI being filed.
