SAWYER COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A pre-dawn domestic disturbance call in July 2025 on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, quickly escalated into a far broader criminal case with the discovery of methamphetamine, pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Daniel J. Corbine, now 54, appeared for a hearing on December 2, 2025, and was sentenced for a conviction on a felony methamphetamine charge.
BACKSTORY
PRESS RELEASE (July 23, 2025)
During the early morning hours of July 20, 2025, Sawyer County Deputies and LCO Police Officers investigated a domestic disturbance that occurred in the Northwoods Beach Community of the LCO Reservation. During the investigation, the possible whereabouts of the alleged suspect were discovered.
Sawyer County Deputies arrived at a location within the Northwoods Beach Community, and ultimately took the suspect into custody for the domestic disturbance and for outstanding felony warrants from both Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle the suspect was in possession of was stolen from Minnesota. During a search of the vehicle, over 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 70 suspected Oxycodone pills, and various items of drug paraphernalia were located.
The suspect, Daniel J. Corbine, 53, of Hayward, WI was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Possession w/ Intent to Distribute Schedule I or II Narcotics, Possession w/ Intent to Deliver Amphetamine, Domestic Disorderly Conduct, and Domestic Battery.
Corbine is currently being held in the Sawyer County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond as well as a probation hold and a Minnesota warrant.

UPDATE
A complaint was filed against Corbine on July 24, 2025, in Sawyer County Circuit Court, charging him with Class D Felony Possession with Intent - Amphetamine / Methamphetamine (>10-50g), Class E Felony Possession with Intent / Deliver Narcotics, Class I Felony Receiving Stolen Property (>$2500-$5000), Misdemeanor Domestic Abuse Battery, and Misdemeanor Domestic Abuse Disorderly Conduct.
Corbine appeared most recently in Sawyer County Circuit Court on December 2, 2025, to be sentenced on a conviction of Class D Felony Possession with Intent - Amphetamine / Methamphetamine (>10-50g). The remaining charges against Corbine were dismissed, but read in at a hearing in September 2025.
The Hon. Judge John Yackel ordered Corbine to serve a prison sentence with 2 years of initial incarceration followed by 4 years of extended supervision. Corbine received credit for 145 days already served in county jail. Corbine is ordered to pay over $1,800 in restitution and over $600 in costs, assessments, and fees.
