Press Release
Senator Kathy Bernier (R-Lake Hallie), chair of the Senate Committee on Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics, is calling for the immediate resignation of the Mayor of Green Bay and a full investigation from Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul into the potential violations that occurred during the November 3, 2020 election in the City of Green Bay.
The statement can be read below and the letter to Gov. Evers and AG Kaul can be read here.
'Mayor Genrich: Resign. Gov. Evers and AG Kaul: Open an investigation – or answer to the public.'
(Madison)…State Senator Kathy Bernier (R-Lake Hallie), chair of the Senate Committee on Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics, issued the following statement after the release of this shocking investigative report about election administration in Green Bay:
“Under Mayor Eric Genrich’s lack of leadership and unforgivable meddling, Green Bay’s April elections were a fiasco on the national scene. If only it didn’t get worse. Unable to learn from his mistakes, Mayor Genrich and his staff deliberately, forcefully, and repeatedly interfered in November’s election administration. Is that why Green Bay’s Clerk and Deputy Clerk resigned? He has shown himself unfit as an executive and should himself resign immediately from the position of Mayor of Green Bay.
“Furthermore, Democrat operatives were literally given keys to the election administration in Green Bay. Damning emails have come to light from leftist activists, like one who worked for a Facebook-funded political group and one who used to work in the office of Governor Evers, that they had undue influence over the elections process. While this does not necessarily delegitimize the results from November 3rd, it does stink to high heaven. I am calling on Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul to open an investigation into this matter. If they value the public’s trust in elections so little that they refuse this request, I ask that they give their reasoning for refusal.
“There are three people who hold responsibility in restoring the public’s trust in elections. Mayor Eric Genrich must resign. Governor Tony Evers must work with Attorney General Josh Kaul to open an investigation. If these things do not happen, they are all sending clear signals that they value their loyalty to left-wing Democratic operatives and the money they possess more than they value free, fair, and open elections."
