Wisconsin Single-Engine Aircraft Crashes After Losing Power Near Amery Airport

POLK COUNTY — A single-engine airplane crashed in a field south of the Amery Airport after experiencing engine trouble shortly after takeoff, with the pilot uninjured, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:38 AM, The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Call Center received a report of a Plane Crash south of the Amery Airport.

First Responders and Law Enforcement responded and located the single engine fixed wing airplane flipped over in a field, southeast of the airport.

The Pilot was the lone occupant and was not injured. Information provided by the pilot was that the plane developed engine problems soon after takeoff. He attempted to make it back to the landing strip when it completely lost power. He landed the plane in the field and upon making contact with the ground the plane overturned.

The FAA and NTSB were notified of this incident and are responding to complete this investigation.
