DOUGLAS COUNTY (DrydenWire) – The court has sentenced Gretchen Marie Hakime, age 40, of Gordon, WI, for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 2nd offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16, from an incident in February 2024 when she was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
BACKSTORY:
On February 13, 2024, at approximately 2:15p, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on US-53 at Snowberry Lane.
According to the WSP, during the investigation of the crash and interaction with the at-fault driver, the Trooper observed signs of impairment, and a subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests, was conducted. The driver, Gretchen M. Hakime [formerly] from Minong, WI, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of an Intoxicant-2nd Offense with a Minor Passenger Under 16 Years of Age in the Vehicle.
Ms. Hakime was transported to a nearby facility for an evidentiary test of her blood alcohol level and later transported to the Douglas County Jail. She was also charged with Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration-2nd offense, Operating While Suspended, and Failure to Yield Right of Way.
The twelve-year-old minor passenger was turned over to a family member, according to the WSP.
UPDATE:
Online court records indicate that Hakime is also facing charges in Sawyer County Circuit Court for charges of Operating While Intoxicated-2nd Offense and Operating a Motor Vehicle With a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration-2nd Offense from an incident occurring in May 2023. Details of that case are not known to DrydenWire at the time of this post; however, Hakime is to appear again in Sawyer County Circuit Court in August 2025 for a hearing regarding those charges.
Hakime appeared most recently in Douglas County Court on July 15, 2025, and the Hon. Judge George Glonek accepted a settlement agreement on the case filed against her there.
Hakime pleaded Guilty to her charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of an Intoxicant-2nd Offense with a Minor Passenger under 16 Years of Age in the Vehicle. The remaining charges against her were dismissed.
Judge Glonek ordered Hakime to serve 100 days in county jail, with credit for 2 days previously served and eligibility for Huber release for work. Hakime is to report to jail on August 13, 2025.
Hakime is ordered to undergo a mandatory assessment and safety plan, pay over $2,000 in costs and fees, and install an Ignition Interlock Device on every vehicle owned by Hakime.
