You Might Be Surprised How Unprepared You Really Are

SPOONER, WI -- For one Spooner man, life is divided into three groups, people just starting out, those in mid-career, and folks looking at retirement.

“Each group of people have completely different needs for their future and few in each age group can answer one of the most important questions that will impact their lives, and that’s ‘What’s important to you?’”

The man to help you find the answer to that question was born in Minnesota and loved math from the get go. Because his teachers thought he was also good in science, they encouraged him to study biology. He enrolled at the UW Duluth and it didn’t take long before he knew that, no, he preferred math over everything else.

There was something so satisfying about adding up a column of figures and having it turn out right. But not just adding them up, but figuring out which figures needed to be included in the column and at what amount.

You might say this is what translated into what he does today; taking lots of unknowns and making them add up when all is said and done.

As he sits in his modern office on Spooner’s north side, you would think he was just another person trained for the job and doing business. You wouldn’t know that his business experience in this field is vast, including some prestigious jobs in the Twin Cities and Bloomington, Illinois at the Corporate Headquarters and his coveted MBA.

Years of adding up things for people have brought him to the place he is today, ready to sit and listen and educate and he makes sure “everyone leaves with a plan.”

In 2005, at the top of his game, he had two job offers, one back in Bloomington and one in Nebraska. Neither one appealed to him, especially now that he was married to wife Tamara (Tammy) and had a child on the way.

Someone in his office suggested he opened his own facility in Spooner. “Spooner, who wants to live in Wisconsin?”

After one visit to the area, they wanted to live in Spooner. They wanted to raise their family in Spooner and fit into the community by getting involved. They now have three children.

It was November 1, 2005, that Tim Reedy opened his State Farm Insurance business on Spooner’s Highway 63.

Since then, his business has grown and he has become deeply invested in the community.

There are three main areas he likes people to address; the death of a spouse with all its financial upheaval, or what about a family member becoming disabled and not able to work, or what happens to your finances if someone sues you and you suddenly find yourself with overwhelming debt.

Folks ready for retirement, like the thousands of Baby Boomers who turn 65 every year, often listen to friends to figure out at what age to apply for social security. Most never think of the long run, maybe later is better, maybe not. Tim will sit down with you and listen to your plans and then work out what’s important to you.

He’s suggested to many that their plan is good and to continue with their original company. The goal is never to sell insurance but to find out what’s important to the person sitting across the desk and help create a plan that will get that person there.

Another question he asks is “Who’s reliant on your current income and why and how? And what plans are there in place for them should something happen.”

With smart planning, a little bit goes a long way and there aren’t any surprises when life throws a few curves at you.

If you’re interested in a 45-minute free initial visit where Tim can offer suggestions based on your needs, he would be happy to do it. State Farm has full-service coverage and Tim will help you “get from here to there systematically”, adding up your personal column of figures so they come out right in the end.

If you’re interested, no matter what your age, call the State Farm office Monday through Friday during working hours at 715-635-9510 or stop by 718 N. River Street in Spooner or you can always email him at tim@timreedy.net.
