In Memory of Alvin Kastens


March 1, 1943 - November 27, 2021

Alvin “Al” L. Kastens, 78, of Luck, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Al was born on March 1, 1943, in Osceola, Wisconsin the son of Louis and Pearl (Rudd) Kastens. Al and Pat were married on June 26, 1997.

Al attended school in Osceola WI. In 1960 when he was 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1960-1964 on the USS Kitty Hawk, an aircraft carrier. After the Navy, he became an Ironworker and was a member of the Local 512. He proudly retired from Ironwork and was proud to receive his 1st pension check on his 55th birthday. He also drove semis for Tiger Express making weekly runs to the East coast with cheese.

Al was a member of the VFW United Post 6856 in Milltown WI. He was the past post commander (several times) and participated in color guard, and local parades, driving "Old Green" with several Post and Aux. members on the back.

Over the years, he managed to collect several John Deer Garden tractors, with many attachments. Summertime he could be found on them, mowing, and trimming the lawn. The winter he played with the snow blower and responded to any family or friends in need of snow removal. Al took a lot of pride in his beautiful yard, enjoying showing it off with the many family gatherings. Also enjoyed driving the tractor and trailer with his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members and friends through the gravel pit. He supported his wife, Pat, with all her beautiful and crazy ideas.

Al leaves to celebrate his memory: his wife, Pat Kastens, children: Scott Kastens, Sandra (Scott Berry) Swanson, Trisha (Wayne) Johnson, Chyleen (Bruce) Johnson, Cole (Katie) Denver and Shawn (Brittany) Denver, his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister, Dorothy Heichel and many family and friends.

A Celebration of Al’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centuria. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Military Honors will be rendered following the service at the funeral home and provided by the Milltown VFW Post 6856 which Al was a member of.

Following Military Honors please join the family for continued visiting, light lunch and toasting to Al at the Milltown VFW.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
