In Memory of Anne Destache


October 18, 1931 - July 22, 2022

Anne Destache was born on October 18, 1931 in Green Bay, WI to the late Steve and Theresa Tikalsky.

Anne passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 in Rice Lake, WI.

She graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1949. She was married on May 22, 1954 to her high school sweetheart, Darwin Destache. They moved to Rice Lake in 1960, where she lived for the rest of her life. Anne loved to knit and cross stitch. She knitted graduation Afghans for all of her children and baby blankets and graduation Afghans for her grandchildren. There are countless cross stitch designs all throughout her home and her children’s homes highlighting special events and places. She and her husband, Darwin were founding members of the Rice Lake Curling Club and has been very active in its leagues and events since 1967. She curled until the age of 84. She spent time traveling with groups and individuals, making new friends, and seeing new sites and events. She was also a devoted member of the Red Hat Club. Volunteering was a very important part of her life as she was a firm believer in giving back to her community. She was a hospital volunteer for over 40 years and was especially proud of being known as the “Teddy Bear Lady”. She also was a member of the Fortnightly club since 1989, delivered Meals on Wheels, worked at voting booths, worked at the St. Joseph School Kitchen as well was an active member in her parish. Being raised in Green Bay, WI, she was a die-hard Packer and Badger fan and always enjoyed a good tailgate party. She also loved a good pontoon ride with her family and/or friends.

Anne will be missed deeply by her six children and her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her son David (Shirley) of Green Bay, WI and their children Colin, Cody and Connor, her son Dan (Betsy) of Mahtomedi, MN and their children Travis, Jackie and Tera, her son Doug (Carolyn) of Sussex, WI and their children Nikki and Jamie, her son Dennis of Rice Lake, her daughter Darcy (Todd) Cournoyer of Grand Rapids, MN and their children Haylee and Tyrel, and her son Dale (Beth) of Waukesha, WI and their children Erica and Eden.

She is also survived by a sister Mary Ann Tikalsky of Green Bay, WI; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and great friends.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, an infant grandson, Taylor, her husband Darwin, her brother Don and her sister-in-law Betty Lou Tikalsky and infant great-granddaughter Charlie Anne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Friday, July 29, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Father Ed Anderson officiating, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-11AM on Friday prior to the funeral service at the church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is assisting the family with the arrangements.
