In Memory of Barbara A. Wallace

September 27, 1943 - May 15, 2025

Barbara A. “Blondie” (Froemel) Wallace, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Green Bay on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Barb was born in Hayward, WI to Clara and Herman Froemel. She was a graduate of Hayward High School and attended UW-Eau Claire. She was married and started her family in Green Bay. Barb found joy in life’s simple pleasures — books, music, dancing, and community. She was an avid reader who loved getting lost in stories, and a lively dancer who brought energy and joy to any room. Her home echoed with the sounds of piano and music of her favorite artists. Barb was deeply committed to her community, giving her time to organizations like the Brown County Homebuilders Association, the Crime Prevention Association, and St. Willebrord Catholic Church. She also embraced friendship and fun through the Red Hat Society. Professionally, she worked in the insurance industry with companies such as Fireman’s Fund and American Medical Security. Above all, Barb was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love was unwavering, and her presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew her best.

Barb is survived by her sisters, Clara Jalowitz (Don) and Dorothy Sharon; brother, Richard Froemel; children, Dawn King, Pam Kelly (Kevin), Vicki Popp Vandenbush (David), Barbara Draeger (Curt); grandchildren, Danielle Hill (David), Keelan Schmidley (Elizabeth), Kasey King, Chase King (Rachel), Kelsey Coleman (Benjamin), Will Kelly (Courtney), Cassandra Popp, Christopher Popp (Cheyenne), Tyler Vandenbush, Taylor Vandenbush, Madison Vandenbush, and Haley Draeger; great-grandchildren, Lizzy, Emily, Joseph Hill, Emerson Colemen, Jayden, Jayce, Eli, Sophia, and Willow Popp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Herman Froemel and brothers, Herman Froemel, Ernest Froemel, Alvin Froemel and Duane Froemel.

A Celebration of Life for all friends and family will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, WI. Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Reserve, WI at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her nurses and caregivers from Lakeland, Almost Family, and Moments Hospice for the care and compassion given to Barb. A special thank you to her daughter, Barb, for all of her time, commitment, and sacrifices made over the years to help fulfill her wish to live and pass in her home.
