Barbara J. Bjorklund, age 98, of Hayward, WI passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Water’s Edge Care Center in Hayward.

Barbara Jane was born February 14, 1926, in Hayward, WI, the daughter of Hobart and Margaret (Turnbull) Brown. She was raised in Spider Lake Township and attended school. She was joined in marriage to Bernard Ingbretson and lived in Springbrook, WI until 1966. Barb moved to Seeley, WI and married Thomas McNamer in 1968. Thomas passed away in 1969. Barb worked for the Hayward Area Hospital as an aide and would clean homes. In 1975, Barb married Oliver Bjorklund, and they lived in Hayward. She enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage, doing jig saw puzzles, and playing Bingo. She looked forward to deer hunting every November and in 1989 she shot an 8 pointer with a 19” spread. She liked to sew and make quilts for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Spider Lake Church, Women of the Moose, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Hayward Veteran’s Association. She volunteered with the VFW and the Hayward Senior Center. Over her lifetime, Barb donated over five gallons of blood to help others. She will be remembered for her strong will and perseverance through the many challenges that she had during her lifetime.

Barb is survived by two daughters, Barbara McNamer (Jay) Ducote of Scottsdale, AZ, Peggy Ingbretson-Newman of Rice Lake, WI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three husbands; eight children, Jerry Ingbretson, Peter Ingbretson, Judith Leonard, Penny Peterson, Jess Ingbretson, Tim Ingbretson, Randy Ingbretson and Robin Peterson; and one sister, Bonnie Lou Brown.

A memorial service celebrating Barb’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Spider Lake Church with Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating. A gathering will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Interment will be in the Spider Lake Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Spider Lake Church or Hayward Regional Hospice.
