In Memory of Barbara J. Wilson


May 30, 1934 - July 17, 2022

Barbara Jean Wilson, age 88, a resident of Siren, WI passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2022.

Barbara was born on May 30, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Arnold and Virda Monson.

Barbara graduated in 1952 from “U High” in Minneapolis. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1956 earning her bachelor’s degree in Social Work.

Barbara married the love of her life John “Jack” Wilson on August 13, 1955 in St. Paul, MN. They moved to Bishop, CA then to Novato, CA. After living in California, they decided to move back to Minnesota where they resided in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Golden Valley.

Barbara was a stay-at-home mom until the children reached young adulthood. After that time, Barbara held a number of positions centering around Human Resource Benefits Management for a variety of companies and industries.

They spent ten years after retirement during the winter months in Lake Havasu City, AZ where they made many new, wonderful friends. Barbara and Jack eventually moved full time to their lake place of 60 years in Siren, WI in 2021.

Barbara enjoyed gardening, playing the penny slots at the casino, vacationing and exploring new places and spending her retirement in Lake Havasu City, AZ with Jack. Barbara loved to play Scrabble and was known as the “Scrabble queen”. She was an active member of the “Stich and Bitch Club”, “Paper Dolls”, “Ladies of Silver Lake”, “Breakfast Club/Sunset Girls”, and “Scripture Club” but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Barbara made every holiday special by her love of family and celebration.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott (Sue) Wilson; grandson, Timothy Wilson; brother, Roger Monson; sister, Diane Dyson; son-in-law, Mike Larson; brother-in-law, Joe Dyson; nephew, Stephen Monson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack; children, John “Butch” (Vicki) Wilson of Chippewa Falls, WI; Diane Skogman-Larson of Elk River, MN; grandchildren, Nick (Katie) Skogman, Joshua Wilson, Stephanie (Sean) Wilson-Riggs, Kelsey (Brady) Sells, and Gregory (Samatha) Wilson; great grandchildren, Jack, Lily, Evelyn, Oliver, Sydney and Jacob; daughter-in-law, Sue Wilson; along with other family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI.
