In Memory of Beatrice L. Poirier


September 24, 1928 - March 27, 2025

Beatrice (Beatty) Poirier went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27, 2025. Beatrice was born September 24, 1928 to Jacob and Elizabeth (Swoboda) Rubenzer. She went to country school in Woodmohr for 2 years and 6 years to St. Peter’s in Tilden, then to high school in Bloomer and graduated in 1946.

She married Harold Poirier on May 31, 1949, in Bloomer. They had 66 years together. Beatty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 2015. Also four brothers, Dick, Jake, Lester, and Harry in infancy, sisters, Irene Schneider, Edna Siverling, Sister Lucy, Marcie Pope, Mabel LaGesse, Betty Bennesch, and Marie Clark, and granddaughter, Katie Poirier.

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Pam) Poirier and John (Cheryl) Poirier, three daughters, Sue (Fred) Figas, Brenda (Dan) Traynor, and Julie (Jim) King, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, sister Jeanette Schilling, and sister-in-laws, Mary Poirier, Kathryn Poirier, Roberta Poirier, and Marilyn Rubenzer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Beatty loved children, especially babies. She babysat for friends, neighbors, and relatives. She also worked as a foster grandparent at New Auburn Elementary in early childhood for 10 years. She was known as Grandma Bea. Bea was a big Packer fan. She enjoyed making sauerkraut and dumplings for her family, and she loved tacos.

She farmed next to her husband in Bloomer and Chetek for 35 years. She said she did everything on the farm except plow.

She was a member of Chetek Lutheran Church for 45 years. She coordinated Meals on Wheels for many years and was on the alter guild.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Chetek Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 19, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin an hour prior at 10:00 AM. The family invites those attending to a luncheon and time of sharing in the church’s fellowship hall following the service.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Mayo Hospice and the wonderful staff at Meadowbrook for their loving care of Bea.
