June 12, 1931  -  December 17, 2016

BERNARD P. GOODRIE JR., age 85, beloved husband of the late Patricia A. Goodrie,  formerly of NE Minneapolis, passed away on  December 17, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN surrounded by family.

Bernie was born on June 12, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to Bernard Sr. and Pearl Goodrie.

He graduated from South High School in 1949.  He was united in marriage on October 23, 1954 to Patricia and they were married for 60 wonderful years.  He was a painter with his father before joining the Marines.  After he left the service he joined the Minneapolis Police force where he served for 39 years, retiring as a Police Captain.  After retirement he moved to his lake home in Webb Lake, WI which he loved and spent his last years.  He loved to play cards and socialize with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters Susan (Greg) Main of Webb Lake, WI; Karen (Mike) Read of Moundsview, MN; and Lynn (Larry) Root of Frederic, WI; his grandchildren Angela, Andrew, Alex, Alyssa and Nicole; his great-granddaughters Ellen, Genevieve and Mazi; his brother Mike (Beth) Goodrie; his sisters: Sharon (Andy) Bodick and Shirley (Tom) Reynolds; and many other friends and relatives. 

A special thanks to the people at the Maple Ridge Care Center where he spent the last year of his life.  He will be sadly missed by all the people’s hearts he has touched over the years.
