In Memory of Betty L. Rogers

November 20, 1949 - June 27, 2026

Betty Lou Rogers, age 76 of Sarona, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Aspirus St Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN - two weeks after exhibiting great strength and courage following a stroke. She was born November 20, 1949 in Rice Lake, WI to Edward and Martha (Paulus) Rumportl.

Betty and her seven siblings grew up in Haugen, and spent a lot of time at their family's campground known as "Shady Rest" on Bear Lake. She would graduate from Rice Lake High School in the Class of 1967. Following high school, Betty worked at several companies in Rice Lake, including many years with Nuto's potatoes, Mastercraft, and, most recently, retired from Menards. Meanwhile, she also tended bar at both Whitetail Ridge in Sarona, and Shady Rest.

Aside from work, Betty filled her time with her love for the outdoors. From fishing, hunting, and camping, to admiring her beloved critters in the backyard. In 2001 she began seeing Jerry Kubista, and together they shared many of the same hobbies. The two loved road-tripping together, and made fun of any place the road would take them.

Betty was also blessed with a green thumb, and tended lovingly to her beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens. She was a fantastic cook, and was even granted with the title of "Best baker in the world", per Jerry. Additionally, she was incredibly proud of her kids and grandkids, and cherished time with both them and her dear sisters.

Betty's memory will live on through the minds of her life partner, Jerry Kubista; daughter, Jenny Rogers (Larry); bonus family, Jen (Tristan) Joslin, Sarah (Shelby) Fox, and Matt (Kali) Kubista; her beloved grandkids, Jasper and Nikoli Demars, Jamie and Alex Joslin, Ashton, Kiera, and Owen Fox, and Emerson, Iva, and Alivia Kubista; her many close-knit siblings, Joann “Joan” Offord, Peggy (Wencl “Sonny”) Mancl, Cindy (Larry) Snowbank, “Beanie” Bernice (John) Holec, Diane (Terry) Davis, and Edward (Deb) Rumportl; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Rogers; parents, Edward and Martha Rumportl; brother, David Rumportl; and brother-in-law, Harry Offord.

A Celebration of Life, per Betty's wishes, will be held from 1 PM - 4 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Whitetail Ridge Campground, N753 Shallow Lake Road, Sarona, WI 54870.

Private interment will take place at Bohemian National Cemetery in Haugen.
