In Memory of Betty L. Yuhan

July 7, 1959 - July 10, 2024

Betty Lou (Shannon) Yuhan of Amery, WI, passed away on July 10, 2024.

Betty was born in Portland, Oregon to Mable and John Shannon on July 7, 1959. While she was an infant, she and her Mom moved to Luck, Wisconsin, and later to nearby Frederic. Betty attended school in both Luck and Frederic, graduating from Frederic High School in 1979. Betty and Donald Hughes were married in 1988, and welcomed their first daughter, Shannon Marie, in July of 1993, who, due to medical difficulties at birth, passed away at the age of six months. They were blessed with their second daughter, Dawn Hughes, in November 1995, who was born with the ability to light up a room with her ever-present smile and bouncy way of greeting each day. When the 8-year marriage ended in divorce, Betty raised Dawn as a single parent until she met Tony Yuhan, the love of her life, and moved to the Amery area. Betty and Tony were wed in 2003 and were inseparable throughout their many years of marriage.

Betty worked at ITP in St. Croix Falls, Stokley Van Camp canning in Frederic and Hartzel in St. Croix Falls. While living in Amery, Betty worked at SMC in Amery for 19 years.

Betty and Tony remained close as they battled Tony’s cancer together until his passing in May of 2021. Shortly after Tony’s death, Betty was also diagnosed with cancer and began her own battle, with Dawn by her side. Relying on her strong character, Betty met each day by her own rules and with a will to live her life her way, with Dawn and her “best boys”, dogs Tuffy and Sparky, at her side.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Denny Blazies; her infant daughter, Shannon; and her beloved Tony. Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life are her daughter, Dawn and stepchildren, Charlotte, Anthony (Heather) and Michael (Brandy), as well as many close friends.

A visitation will be held at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a short memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm.
