In Memory of Brenda K. Melton

September 19, 1957 - May 18, 2024

Brenda Kay Melton was born on September 19, 1957, in Shell Lake, and passed away suddenly on May 18, 2024, in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Brenda grew up west of Shell Lake with her parents and three siblings. Before graduating high school in 1976, she began working at Shell Lake IMC Hospital. She would retire from there in the business office for admissions and accounts payable over 40 years later. Recently, Brenda was employed in the dietary department at Dove Healthcare in Spooner.

Brenda was a quiet, gentle soul with a fierce love of family. Her four children Crystal, Kerry, Kayla, and Cory were always her priority. Brenda was blessed with ten grandchildren—each one she considered special. She often baked with them and attended every special event from dance recitals to sports and school activities. Traveling to Louisiana to visit her daughter and family was joyous. Occasionally she would show her wild side, like when she went parasailing.

She kept herself busy being creative and crafty; well-known for her handmade wreaths which hang on the doors of all her relatives. Her green thumb was seen in her flowers which bloomed continually in the front garden of her house. She loved sweatshirts, chocolate, her dog, Peanut, the Hallmark Channel, the Green Bay Packers, puzzles and games, deep belly laughs, and hosting family parties and celebrations. Her chocolate dessert creations are infamous!

Brenda will be missed tremendously by all those she leaves behind. Our hearts are broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.

Brenda is survived by her children Kerry Russell (Chuck) of Spooner, Kayla Smith (Dan) of Slidell, LA, and Cory Albee (Amber) of Shell Lake, son-in-law Matthew Potter (Stevie); ten grandchildren Austin, Colton, and Laila Potter; Liam, Emerson, and Shelvie Russell; Peyton and Kaitlynn Smith; Lane and Levi Albee; sister Deb Manseau (Bob) Amesbury, MA, brothers Scott Melton and Randy Melton (Roxanne) Shell Lake; former husband Glen Albee of Shell Lake as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal and parents, Shelvie and Phillip Melton.

Please join her family for the viewing and service to be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner. The viewing will be held from 9 am – 11 am with the service at 11, luncheon at 12 and burial to follow in the Spooner Cemetery.
