In Memory of Candice Mitchell

October 28, 1952 - November 16, 2021

Candice “Candie” Louise Mitchell, of Milltown Wisconsin, passed away on November 16, 2021, at the St. Croix Falls Regional Medical Center at the age of 69.

Candie was born in Frederic, Wisconsin on October 28, 1952, to Dorothie and John “Bob” Shutt.

Candie graduated from Webster High School in 1970. While at Webster High, she was a drummer in the band and sang in the choir, often singing the National Anthem at sporting events. She was crowned Miss Wild River Days Queen in 1968. Candie married Bill Mitchell in December 1970 and to this union two children were born, Michelle and Kristy. Candie worked at the Holiday Grocery Store in Milltown while her children grew up. Her kind greetings and warm smiles brightened the days of countless shoppers during their visits to the Holiday Store. Michelle and Kristy have fond memories of visiting the store to get candy, eat lunch from the deli with Mom on her lunch break, or simply hang out. Candie was a regular fixture at Unity sporting events when her children were in school, and her love and support meant the world to them. Candie went on to work at the St. Croix Falls Walmart as a Department manager, starting with the store opening in 1995 until her retirement in 2017. It warms the hearts of her family to hear the stories of her kindness and how she went out of her way to help anyone in need. She was extremely generous and selfless and made differences, large and small, in so many lives over the years.

Candie was a very loving mother and grandmother. The birth of her grandson Caden in March 2006 brought incredible joy to her. Candie was filled with love and pride for her grandson and the bond between Caden and his grandma is an incredibly strong one. She fought hard to stay with us longer to watch Caden to play basketball this year but didn’t quite accomplish that dream. We know she will be there watching over him. Her family meant the world to her, and she meant the world to them. She will be deeply and incredibly missed.

Candie is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Dorothie Shutt.

She leaves to celebrate her memory, daughters Michelle Mitchell (Doug Gruber), Milltown, WI; Kristy Mitchell (Mike Eder), Stillwater, MN; grandson Caden Gruber; brother Bob (Mary) Shutt, Burnsville, MN, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Kolstad Funeral Home in Centuria, WI, on Wednesday, 11/24 at 4:00 PM. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Candie will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Webster, WI on Friday, 11/26, at 1:00 PM.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
