In Memory of Carl A. Kleinschmidt

September 25, 1940 - December 29, 2025

Carl A. Kleinschmidt, age 85, of Turtle Lake passed away suddenly on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Cumberland Healthcare. He was born September 25, 1940 to Arthur Albert and Clara (Jeska) Kleinschmidt.

Carl was a family man, a handyman, and a jack of all trades. Shortly after high school, he joined the service as a member of the United States Navy. On June 16, 1963 he married Eunice Sollman at Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake, the same church where he was baptized and confirmed. They would later have three children, Marty, Cory, and Darla.

Carl was quite involved with the community, from being Director of Public Works in Turtle Lake for 30+ years, a volunteer member of the fire department, and an active member of the American Legion and Zion Lutheran Church.

In earlier years, he enjoyed running a small hobby farm, hunting of all kinds, and fishing. In later years he tended carefully to his lawn, and his garden - helping Eunice with the canning.

He prided himself in being a self taught taxidermist, and one to complete many projects around the house - both in his own home and his families. Carl kept his family and extended family close, always making an effort to stay in touch.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Eunice; children, Marty (Tracyann) Kleinschmidt, Cory Kleinschmidt, Darla Kleinschmidt; grandchildren, Christina (Hunter) Huth and Craig Kleinschmidt; great-granddaughter, Genevieve Huth; siblings, Bernice Sellent, Ann Owens, Jerry (Margaret) Kleinschmidt, David (Nancy) Kleinschmidt, and Betty (Wayne) Butzler; and sister-in-laws, Shirley (Jerry) Nykanen and Marlene Dobberschutz.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Clara; infant son, Brian Kleinschmidt; siblings, Dorothy Topper, Howard Kleinschmidt and Danny Kleinschmidt; brother-in-laws, Ron Sollman, Larry Dobberschutz, Clarence Sellent, Jon Owens, and Frank Topper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church of Turtle Lake with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion of Turtle Lake Post #137.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday, and from 4 - 7 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Skinner Funeral Home in Turtle Lake.
