In Memory of Carol “Pat” Crowe
Carol “Pat “ Crowe of Rice Lake, WI left her earthly family to join her Heavenly family April 30th, 2025, at Marshfield Hospital, Rice Lake, WI. She enjoyed her 90 years of changing seasons.
In the Spring of her life, she was born in 1934 in Joliet, IL sharing her parents, Donald and Leah Storm, with 3 siblings. She attended school in New Lenox, IL, and her first job was an elevator operator at Gimbels department store.
In the Summer of her life she married a handsome guy from Kentucky Arnold Crowe and began a lifelong partnership of working and playing side by side. They dairy farmed in Twin Lakes, WI, where they raised 4 children. She was an active farm wife, driving tractor, doing chores, gardening, and feeding her family home cooked meals. Many of her city relatives enjoyed visiting the farm and she might have put them to work! A relaxing afternoon for her was taking her brood to the beach and soaking up the sun.
In the Autumn of Pat’s life, she and Arnold sold the cows and went into business operating the Crow’s Nest Bar and Grill in Twin Lakes and later the Showboat Tap near Edgerton, WI, on the Rock River. Pat enjoyed her farm community clients, good country bands, lots of fishing trips, and adventurous boat trips down the Mississippi River in Arnold’s big red boat. Pat was proud of her Scottish roots and blamed her frugal ways on them–One example was wearing the same blue dress to all four of her children’s weddings, as documented in all of their wedding photos. Later, grandchildren were arriving to fill her time.
In the Winter of Pat’s life she split her time between Florida and Wisconsin, enjoying fishing oceans and lakes, watching lakeside sunsets, relaxing on sand beaches, and hosting lifelong friends and family. She took up artistic painting and sketching. She was a fierce Marble game player and cribbage champion.
Pat is survived by her children Mattie (Doug) Pitts, Rice Lake, Christine (Rocky) Bank, Sarona, Russell (Sara) Crowe, Rice Lake; grandchildren Bryan Pitts, Josie Lobe, Kristen Bouska, Amanda Crowe, Arnie Crowe, Kate Bank Smith, Cody Bank, Kelsey Bank, Michael Crowe, Travis Crowe, Brittany Johnson, Tyler Crowe; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by beloved husband Arnold in 2021, son David Crowe in 2022, brother Don “Buster” Storm, sister Donna Vincent, granddaughter Angela Lynn Crowe, and son-in-law James Webster.
No Service is planned; her family gathered for a living celebration with her for her 90th birthday. Pat will be laid to rest at the Isenberg Cemetery in Kentucky with her beloved Arnold and David at a later date. Memorials may be made to Barron County Meals on Wheels (335 E. Monroe Ave, Barron,WI 54812) to support their efforts keeping our loved ones in their own home.
